Weekend 1-5
- History– Continuous systemic narrative past of Ayurveda- Its origin, evolution, and development in different periods of human history.
- The Human Body – The holistic physical, mind, and soul concept of the human body- the subject matter of wellness and illness in Ayurveda.
- Ayurvedic Concept of What is Health or Wellness – The balanced state of body humors the Vata, Pitta, and Kapha (Tridosha) biochemistry, along with the body tissues, the Dhatus, as well as the metabolic state or the Agni.Mind, the master of the body and its role in wellness and illness. Total health as an equipoised state of physical, social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
- Origin of the Universe and place of human beings in it. The Sankhyan philosophy of creation of the cosmos, and the modern physics concept of the Big Bang theory of the origin of the universe. Both postulate that the Duality or relativity originated out of the Singularity. The human body as a microcosm is a continuation of the macrocosm, the universe.
- The Vata, Pitta, and Kapha ( Tridosha ). The three basic humors that constitute our body, their equilibrium as a state of health, and imbalance as illness. Description of each of the humor and their properties
- Vata, Pitta, and Kapha ( Tridosha ) Body Types or Constitutions
- The Five Basic Elements – Metaphysical concept of the five basic elements, Space, Air, Fire, Water, and the Earth, which constitute an atom of all elements, the physical body, and the whole of the universe.
- Basic qualities of the matter — The GUNAS and their therapeutic uses for well-being, including the twenty pairs of opposites as the dual nature of matter.
- Six basic tastes: the Rasa – Sweet, Sour, Saltish, Bitter, Chilli, and Astringent as the six flavors that represent the total chemicals that exist on earth, their relationship with the five basic elements, the body humors, the Vata, Pitta, and the Kapha.
- Tridosha – The Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, the three basic humors that constitute our body, their equilibrium as a state of health and imbalance as illness. Description of each of the humor and their properties.
- Agani – Metabolic forces of the body, including the digestive fire, and other enzymatic activities, hormones, and biochemicals responsible for growth and sustenance of the body.
- Dhatus – The symbolic concept of seven body tissues the Ras(plasma), Rakta(blood), Maans(muscle), Medha(fats), Asthi(bones), Majja(bone marrow), and Shukra (reproductive cells) – their state of balance, as health and imbalance as a disease.
- The excretion and detoxification systems of the body — For expelling the natural waste products produced in the body out of the metabolism of the food and pollutants.
- Mind– The master organ of the body, with its function of receiving information through the five senses: the skin, eyes, tongue, ears, and nose. Management of the internal body functioning, and action through five main organs of action: the hand, legs, tongue, anal aperture, and genitals.
- Soul – The grand life force that energizes the human body with consciousness, the human portion of the Supreme Being that governs the origin and dissolution of the universe.
- Understanding Diseases – The imbalanced state of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha body biochemistry as a state of disease, and their balance as a wellness.
- Ayurvedic Classification of Disease — Various classes of diseases, like diseases due to within-the-body reasons, outside-the-body reasons, diseases of various body Dhatus, Vata disease, Pitta diseases, Kapha diseases, etc.
- The Causes of Disease—Unhealthy and incompatible with the body, food like nonseasonal food, processed food, overcooked food, fried food, exotic food, preserved food. Unhealthy lifestyles like late-night sleep, sedentary living, digital distraction, and mental stress. Infection, genetics, etc.
- Common lifestyle and autoimmune diseases. —Diabetes, High blood pressure, Heart diseases, Joint diseases, Kidney diseases, Liver diseases, Thyroid diseases, Intestinal diseases, Mental disorders, Tumors, Nervous diseases, Multiple sclerosis, and noninfectious skin diseases, etc.
Weekend 6 -10
- Management and Treatment of Diseases—Through prevention of the causes, with the right food, a correct lifestyle, compatible with seasonal living. Green medicine in the form of plant juice, paste, dry herb powder, hot and cold decoction, syrups, wines, tablets, capsules, granules, etc.
- Correction of Unhealthy Lifestyle– Ayurvedic wisdom related to the Correction of delinquent sleeping patterns.To follow the season-appropriate living styles. Prevention and management of mental stress. To avoid digital distraction while following Ashtang Yoga.
- Vedanta, the Indian philosophy—Concept of Supreme Being, the Brahman, creation of the universe, the human portion of Brahman, the soul, the liberation of the soul, and the achievement of salvation. The five senses and their master, the mind, for health or disease, happiness or sorrow.
